Eco-Friendly Fashion for Men
July 14th, 2011Fashion, Inspiration, Style, TrendsSolosso 0 Comments

Protecting the environment is becoming increasingly important and the fashion world has taken notice.  Eco-friendly fashion utilizes sustainable, recycled and biodegradable materials – think organic cotton, bamboo and hemp.  It avoids pollution and toxic substances, including pesticides, fertilizers and petroleum products.

There are currently many more eco-friendly fashion options for women than men, but that situation is changing as the demand grows for sustainable clothing for both sexes.  The best way to build an eco-friendly wardrobe is to begin with organically grown and processed cotton.   Some very talented designers have embraced eco fashion, so there’s no need to sacrifice style.

These are a few of the top companies offering eco-friendly fashion for men:

Loomstate Organic

Loomstate Organic was launched in NYC in 2004 by Rogan Gregory and Scott Mackinlay Hahn.  The company’s casual men’s clothing is made from 100% certified organic cotton produced under environmentally responsible conditions in countries around the globe, including Peru, Turkey, Africa and India.  Loomstate Organic clothing, including organic jeans, is sold online and in high-end retail stores like Barney’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Patagonia

Patagonia is a thirty-year old company that was originally founded as a source for outdoor equipment.  In addition to clothing for skiers, rock climbers, surfers and hikers, the company sells general apparel that is made from organic and recycled materials.  Patagonia is a major contributor to many environmental groups and commits 1% of total sales to environmental causes.  Patagonia eco-friendly fashions for men are available online and in select retail outlets.

Puma shoe box From Reusable fabric bag

PPR Group is one of the first high-end design companies to make a serious commitment to eco-friendly fashion.  PPR Group owns several luxury brands including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Puma.  The company has several initiatives that seek to reduce the environmental impact of its products.  Initial examples of more sustainable products include Gucci hags made from recycled paper, a Puma shoe box that is actually a reusable fabric bag and a Stella McCartney coat made from organic wool.  Look for additional eco fashions for men from PPR Group in the future.
