Neckties help you make a statement

We live in a visual world and there’s no denying that a man’s appearance is often used to gauge his character and confidence.  When it comes to dress shirt accessories, it’s important to invest in pieces that will speak volumes about your personal style.  Neckties in particular should be chosen with an eye towards making a statement.

neckties

Hermes

The youthful trend for slim neckties that we’ve seen for several years currently shows no sign of abating. The keyword here is slim (about 3 inches wide) – not skinny.  Look for solid colours and classic stripes or small patterns such as those featured on Hermes classic silk twill neckties.   Hermes is the gold standard in ties.  You’ll spend more for a Hermes necktie but it will be a staple of your wardrobe for years to come.   A novelty print or extreme width just won’t stand the test of time in the same way that a classic necktie made from a high quality silk fabric will.

bowtie

Etro

For men who enjoy an unconventional sense of style, the bow tie is a trendy necktie replacement.  Several menswear design houses, including Etro, featured bow ties worn with patterned shirts in their recent runway collections.  A silk scarf worn with an open collar dress shirt is another necktie alternative.

Tie bar

The tie bar is enjoying resurgence as a dress shirt accent piece.  This narrow piece of decorative metal, also known as a tie clip, holds the tie flat against the front to the dress shirt.  The tie bar is a subtle detail that can make a shirt and tie really stand out.
