Spring and Summer Fashion Trends for Men
June 10th, 2011Fashion, Style, TrendsSolosso 2 Comments

Men’s fashion styles cycle more slowly than women’s, which is actually a great benefit. Spring and summer fashion trends in men’s suits and casual clothing will look up-to-date for several seasons to come.  This allows men to invest more money in their wardrobe and to wear their favourite pieces of clothing longer.

Suits for 2011 continue the recent 1960s-inspired move towards pared down, form-fitted tailoring.  Boxy and unstructured suits are definitely passé.  At the same time, overly tight suits should also be avoided.  The modern slim cut suit is both classic and masculine, neither skinny nor boxy.  It endows its wearer with a sense of cool confidence.  Some of best examples of this silhouette were seen in the runway collections of Canali and Dolce & Gabbana (who both invoked the spirit of 1960s Italian cinema).  Single-breasted suits continue to be the dominant style, though several designers including Dries Van Noten showed slim-cut double-breasted suits.

For casual wear, flared jeans have replaced skinny jeans for both men and women.  This retro fashion trend appears in the collections of Acne and other designers.  Besides a looser fit in the lower leg, this new jeans shape features a higher waist.

The colour palette for the season is primarily neutral, with touches of black and white adding contrast.  For those who are more daring, eye-catching separates in saturated colours were seen in the Jil Sander’s collection, while Issey Miyake inventively combined bright colours and bold prints.
